Session eSummit

WIDA is excited to announce its eSummit online learning opportunity. This new program is free and open to domestic members of the WIDA Consortium, including federal agencies, states, and territories. WIDA staff, educators, experts and others will speak at the eSummit. Vietthanh Thanh Nguyen is the keynote speaker. She was a finalist and a Pulitzer Prize winner. Other sessions will include topics relevant for educators of K-12 multilingual learners and the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework. WIDA staff will give presentations and update social media.

The WIDA Annual Conference was launched in 2013 and has traveled to many cities nationwide since. 600 people attended the first conference, with a long waiting list. The conference now draws over 1,000 attendees. Register now for the WIDA conference. This year's conference theme is "Educating Diverse Learners: Building Community of Practice." Video Library Conference

The Video Library conference will provide an opportunity for library professionals to share knowledge and best practices to advance the field of video reference. Using the digital platform, attendees can view conference videos from any PC, Mac computer, iDevice, web browser or mobile device. The videos can be accessed by anyone without the need for special hardware. Users can also share their credentials online with other library staff. You can also access the conference program using the video library's detailed instructions.

On Oct. 13, 2019, the PLA celebrated their 75th anniversary. The PLA will continue to celebrate its history through 2020. It released an Anniversary video that featured stories from members. A fundraising campaign has been launched to fund 15 scholarships for 2020's Video Library Conference. Students in library schools, early career librarians, as well as support staff, are eligible for scholarships. In addition, the organization has developed two new initiatives with Microsoft to support library staff and expand professional development.
